Meet Tenille

Tenille N. Kaus, a symbol of resilience, was born in Cleveland, Ohio.  At the tender age of one, she tragically lost her mother to domestic violence.  This pivotal event shaped Tenille into the remarkable individual she is today and influenced her perspectives on various issues.  Following this heart-wrenching loss, Tenille's grandmother, whom she lovingly refers to as 'Mom,' raised her. Her grandmother instilled in her that education is the key to success.  Today, Tenille is a devoted caregiver for her grandmother, who, at the age of 90, continues to thrive in the Cleveland area, a testament to Tenille's unwavering love and dedication.

"My grandmother and my daughter are my driving forces.  They push me to be better each day."

Tenille grew up in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.  She attended Laurel School, St. Ann School (now called Communion of the Saints School), and Beaumont School.  Tenille's first jobs were at Russo Stop-n-Shop in Cleveland Heights and O'Grady's Dry Cleaners on Coventry in Cleveland Heights. Upon graduating from Beaumont School, Tenille attended the University of Pittsburgh, where she was made fun of daily for being a Browns fan.  Tenille graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work.  Tenille attended The University of Akron School of Law.

"My legislative lens combines my social work degree and my law degree.

My life experiences guide my perspectives."

Tenille's career is a reflection of her unwavering commitment to her values. She has worked in a variety of public and private sectors,  including Northeast Ohio Medical University, Cleveland Metropolitan School District, The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, Summa Health, Case Western Reserve University, and the County of Summit, Ohio.  In these roles, she performed legal services, Labor Relations with unions, and led diversity, Equity, and inclusion initiatives.  Currently, Tenille is an Associate Attorney for Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority, a position that allows her to continue her work in line with her values.

"My career has always been connected to my values.  That will never change."

Tenille lives in the Lomond Neighborhood with her ten-year-old daughter, Eleanor.  She is an active mom, lawyer, and Councilwoman.  She enjoys traveling, spending time with girlfriends, and pool time.  You can frequently find her at Thorton Park Swimming Pool, the Van Aken District, the Shaker Heights Main Library, or any neighborhood playground.

"Rest is the resistance.  I work hard and play harder."
